About Our Property
Affordable Housing in Attleboro, MA
The Bliss School Apartments, Great Bridge Properties' second affordable housing development in Massachusetts, is a combination of historic rehabilitation and new construction. The original Bliss School, constructed in 1909 is being carefully restored into 10 one and two bedroom apartments. The rear addition, built in 1920 and severely damaged due to water infiltration, is being demolished. In it's place, a new 30 unit structure containing two and three bedroom apartments will be joined to the original school building. The Bliss School closed over 20 years ago and has remained dormant ever since. It’s most recent use prior to our development was as a parking lot for Sturdy Memorial Hospital located directly across the street. From the inception of our proposal to City Government and the neighborhood, we have had overwhelming support. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is ranked as one of the country's most expensive housing markets today. The fact that this property will provide much needed affordable housing and at the same time preserve one of the City's most loved buildings makes this project highly desirable for the entire community. Located in a mostly residential neighborhood, Bliss School Apartments is being developed to provide lower and moderate income residents in the Attleboro area an affordable rental option. The unique floor plans will allow for affordability without sacrificing space, livability, or quality of life.
The location is ideal for the housing use as the hospital, churches, city hall, library, schools, social services, shopping, banking, and public transportation are all within walking distance. The Attleboro MBTA commuter rail station is located less than half a mile from Bliss School, making it an easy walk for our residents.
